Guest Blogger: Madeline with Über Chic for Cheap

Have you checked out Madeline's blog  Über Chic for Cheap blog?  Do you love the latest fashions you see in JCrew, Anthropologie or other high-end stores, but can't stomach the price tag?  Well then you better go on over to Über Chic for Cheap because Madeline is a genius at finding the latest fashions for less (isn't that TJ Maxx's slogan?).  Last week she found a shirt that she liked at Anthropologie for 78 dollars, and then found the exact same one in white at K-Mart.  One of her readers suggested dying it to get the butter cream yellow color.  I'm telling you, there are some great ideas over there.  I asked Madeline to find a great summer outfit for under $100 to share with you, and as you'll see she worked her magic.  Don't forget to answer her question at the end because I'm curious too....

I love finding a good deal, probably as much as I love clothes, and that is saying something. As an avid bargain shopper, I have become somewhat obsessed with recreating expensive looks for less. One of my favorite spots for inspiration is Anthropologie. I am always inspired by the monthly outfit showcase spotlighting new arrivals.  This month, the outfits revolve around the concept of sweet utility, mixing delicate details with the more substantial choice of khaki. One of my favorites this month was this Brick and Ruffle ensemble.

{ringing in at $412}

Those shorts are way out of my comfort range, but I adore the color story as well as textural details and pattern. I recreated an inspired version of the outfit for under $100:

Tissue Garland Tank - J.Crew - $24.99 (Orig. $45.00)
Chaps Amagansett Denim Capris - Kohls - $22.50 (Orig. $50.00)
Peeptoe Wedges - Old Navy $20.00 (Orig. $24.50)

{if you want to rock some similar shorts to the model, I found this pair at the Limited for just $23.70}
Where do you find fashion inspiration?

what an awesome recreation! i too loved the color combo and the ruffles on the top. and even though the shorts look amazing on the model, i sadly know they'd look frumpy on me so it's great to see the pants.
seriously: this one's a big win!
