Paul's Perspective

I asked Paul to share with you his feelings about the makeover, and he happily obliged.  Reading this letter makes it all worth it for me (scheduling, coordinating, posting, shopping, returning, exchanging, styling, finding babysitters, messy house....the list could go on!). Paul was a joy to work with and I'm glad to know he's planning on keeping up his new look!
I wanted to share my makeover experience with you.  My daughter, Jessica called and told me she wanted to nominate me for a Father’s Day Makeover contest.  My first thoughts were WHAT??? You wanna do WHAT???, a Makeover, I don’t know about that.  After she told me why she wanted to and what was involved, I agreed to the nomination. When she called and told me I won, I was at a loss for words.  I couldn’t believe it.  I have never won anything in my life.  Then a few hours later, she called and said, “Dad, you know that you are going to have to shave your mustache, don’t you.”  I said, “Nope! No Way, That’s not going to happen, the mustache is staying etc.”  She spent the next 20 min trying to convince me, that it was time for the mustache to go. Then Chelsea called and tried to convince me as well. I have had my mustache for 30 plus years, to me it was part of what I look like.  I ultimately gave in…. but with hesitation.
The first thing I got to do was go in for my teeth whitening appointment and all the people at River Stone Dental were so nice and made me feel very welcome. The day of my makeover, I was feeling nervous, not sure what to expect. I met Kori, who was going to be doing my makeover.  She was really nice to me and did a wonderful job of helping me to relax and enjoy the experience.  As they began to shave my mustache I felt a lot of anxiety. When I looked in the mirror for the first time, my reaction was holy cow, that’s not me.  After I was done at the salon, we went out to a farm for my photo shoot. I really like the clothes that Chelsea picked out. I will definitely be wearing them again. I had a hard time opening up at first, but Chelsea and Megan were so funny, and made me feel comfortable.  I NEVER smile in pictures, and Megan was able to capture me smiling.  In the pictures, she was also able to capture the joy I was feeling that day.  I felt so special and felt a lot of love.  I am at a loss of words to describe my appreciation.  I’m not used to being pampered and it was such a wonderful thing to experience in my life.  My daughter was right, I did need a pick me up and this was just the thing I needed. I feel great inside and out. I feel more confident and still do a double take every time I pass by a mirror. I have gotten so many compliments and so much attention and even people I have known for years don’t recognize me. I plan on keeping this new look and loved my makeover experience.  I want to thank all involved and also all those that voted for me, it truly was an amazing experience for me.
This is my FAVORITE picture from the shoot. He is in his element that is for sure (he grew up on a farm, and loves working on the farm). If you haven't seen all of the photos then go HERE.

I am amazed. You wouldn't think there would be such a difference when it's a man (because they don't usually wear make-up). He looks great!
